Accessibility is part of institutional credibility. The civic map is the primary surface of this product, and it is never the only path.
Commitments
- Every public civic record has a stable URL and a full text representation, independent of the map.
- The civic record index lists every public record as plain, navigable text.
- The map supports keyboard use: arrow keys pan, plus and minus zoom, Tab reaches each civic record marker, and Enter opens it.
- Interactive explainers include complete text equivalents, and none require animation to be understood.
- Motion respects the reduced-motion preference throughout, including map transitions.
- Status is never communicated by color alone; every state carries a text label.
- Donation, sign-in, and reporting flows are fully operable by keyboard.
Known limits
The map itself is a graphical instrument. Where it falls short for you, the index and the record pages carry the same information; if they do not, that is a defect — report it.
